5 Dallas law firms for 18-wheeler and truck accident claims

What are the best Dallas law firms for 18-wheeler and truck accident claims? The five firms below each publish real trucking work on their own sites and have an office in Dallas or the Dallas area, starting with Fielding Law.

A crash with a loaded tractor-trailer is not a larger version of a fender bender. The truck is many times heavier than a car, the carrier answers to federal safety rules, and the key records sit in the trucking company’s files, not yours.

This guide explains how we picked the firms, what each one offers, and the Texas and federal rules that shape a truck claim filed in Dallas County or the surrounding counties.

At a glance

  • Our first pick for an 18-wheeler claim in the Dallas area is Fielding Law, a North Texas injury firm with offices in Richardson, Mesquite and Heath.
  • Interstate carriers of general freight must carry at least $750,000 in liability coverage, far more than a typical car policy.
  • Texas gives you two years to sue for most injuries, but some trucking records can be discarded within months.

How We Chose and Ranked These Firms

We read each firm’s own website, its truck accident page and its office details in October 2026. We did not use paid directories, and we did not rank by the size of past results, because an old verdict says little about your case.

How we ranked them

  • Trucking depth: a dedicated truck page that shows working knowledge of federal safety rules, driver records and electronic data.
  • Dallas presence: an office in Dallas or the Dallas area, so the lawyers know the local courts and can reach a crash scene quickly.
  • Access and record: free consultations, contingency fees, language access and the results or credentials the firm publishes itself.

The ranking applies those three criteria. Every firm below accepts 18-wheeler cases; the order reflects how closely each one fits an injured person in the Dallas area looking for a truck accident lawyer today.

The 5 Best Dallas Law Firms for 18-Wheeler and Truck Accident Claims

One practical point first. Federal rules tell trucking companies how long to keep certain records, and some of those windows are short. The graphic shows five of them.

Federal record clocks after a truck crash: post-crash tests, hours-of-service, maintenance and accident records

Once a retention period ends, the carrier may lawfully discard the record. That is why a good truck lawyer sends a preservation letter to the carrier within days. The table then compares the five firms at a glance.

1. Fielding Law

Fielding Law truck accident page, Texas truck accident lawyers

Fielding Law is a Texas personal injury firm with three offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area: Richardson, Mesquite and Heath. It says it serves injury victims throughout North Texas and across the state.

Its truck accident page explains why a truck claim differs from a car claim: commercial licensing, stricter alcohol rules and limits on driving time.

The same page lists the parties a claim can name: the driver, the driver’s employer, the truck’s owner, a leasing company, the manufacturer, the mechanics and the shipper. Finding every one of them is often what separates a full recovery from a partial one.

The firm says its trial attorneys have won more than 5,500 cases. It offers full service in English and Spanish, keeps its offices open 24 hours a day, and works on contingency with a free consultation.

Best for: an 18-wheeler crash anywhere in the Dallas area or North Texas, especially for Spanish-speaking families.

2. Witherite Law Group

Witherite Law Group Dallas truck wreck lawyers page

Witherite Law Group calls itself “Your Truck Wreck Attorneys.” Its Dallas office is on North Central Expressway, with a second Texas office in Fort Worth and others in Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta.

The Dallas truck wreck page describes a Rapid Response Team that gathers footage and dash cam and black box data, an in-house medical team, and an audio unit that studies 911 calls and body cam recordings.

The firm reports more than 40 lawyers and says it has recovered over $1 billion for clients. Its published Texas results include an 18-wheeler crash on Highway 75 near Anna that set off a four-car chain reaction.

Best for: a catastrophic tractor-trailer crash that calls for a large team focused almost entirely on truck cases.

3. Rasansky | McKenzie Law

Rasansky McKenzie Law Dallas truck accident lawyer page

Rasansky | McKenzie Law is a Dallas firm on McKinnon Street in Uptown. It says its attorneys have represented injured clients in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for more than 30 years.

Its Dallas truck accident page covers big rig, semi and 18-wheeler crashes, the common causes, and the parties who can be liable. A Spanish version of the site is available.

One published case fits this topic well. A construction truck traveling near 70 mph rear-ended a client’s pickup, leaving him tetraplegic.

The firm used the truck’s electronic control module data and found failures to qualify, train and supervise the driver. It lists the result as $5.98 million.

Its homepage now leads with birth injury, nursing home and medical malpractice cases, so ask who on the team will run a truck case.

Best for: a life-changing injury where the truck’s black box and the carrier’s hiring files are likely to decide fault.

4. Francis Injury

Francis Injury Dallas truck accident lawyers page

Francis Injury is led by Michael Francis, who the firm says has more than thirty years of litigation experience and is Board Certified in Personal Injury by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Its Dallas truck accident page lists a Dallas office on North Central Expressway, alongside offices in Fort Worth and Southlake.

The page gives practical hiring advice that matches our own: ask about trial experience, read client reviews, and confirm the firm works with reconstruction experts, truck mechanics, engineers and vocational experts.

The firm says Francis has won over $50 million for clients and has faced some of the largest truck carriers in the region.

Best for: claimants who want a board-certified trial lawyer leading the case anywhere in Dallas-Fort Worth.

5. Benton Accident & Injury Lawyers

Benton Accident and Injury Lawyers Dallas truck accident lawyer page

Benton Accident & Injury Lawyers has its Dallas office in the Design District on Market Center Boulevard, with other offices in Fort Worth, Brownsville and Seattle. It says it handles cases throughout Texas.

Its Dallas truck accident page walks through the investigation: the crash report, witness statements, the driver’s qualifications and the company’s hiring practices. It handles tractor-trailers, tankers, dump trucks, flatbeds and delivery trucks.

The homepage lists two trucking collision results, $5.5 million and $1.53 million, and cites over 300 five-star reviews. The firm says it prepares every claim as if it is headed for trial.

Best for: a Dallas truck claim where steady communication and trial-ready preparation matter most to you.

What Makes an 18-Wheeler Claim in Dallas Different

The rules below come from Texas statutes and federal regulations. They are general information, and how they apply depends on the facts of your crash.

More insurance, more defendants. Under 49 CFR 387.9, a for-hire interstate carrier of general freight must carry at least $750,000 in coverage. Hazardous loads require more.

Our guide to who can be held responsible for an 18-wheeler accident in Texas covers the other parties who may share the blame.

Short evidence windows. After a qualifying crash, the carrier must test the driver for alcohol within 8 hours and for drugs within 32 hours under 49 CFR 382.303. Hours-of-service records need only be kept for six months.

A two-phase trial. Texas passed special rules for commercial vehicle cases in 2021. Under Civil Practice and Remedies Code 72.052, a trucking defendant can ask the court to split the trial, with liability and compensatory damages decided first.

If the employer stipulates that the driver was its employee acting on the job, section 72.054 limits ordinary negligence claims against the company in that first phase, with exceptions. This is one reason experienced truck lawyers plan their evidence early.

Shared fault. Under section 33.001, you recover nothing if your share of responsibility is greater than 50 percent; below that, your award is reduced by your share. Our article on recovering compensation when you were partly at fault explains how that works.

The deadline. Section 16.003 generally gives two years from the crash to file a personal injury suit, and two years from the death for a wrongful death claim. Claims involving a government vehicle can carry much shorter notice rules.

How to Choose the Right Truck Accident Lawyer in Dallas

Ask each firm a few direct questions before you sign:

  • Will you send preservation letters to the carrier this week, and for which records?
  • Which experts will review the black box, the driver logs and the crash scene?
  • How many 18-wheeler cases have you taken to a jury, and who would try mine?
  • Who will be my contact, and how quickly will they return my calls?

One red flag: a lawyer who names a settlement figure at the first meeting. No one can value a truck case honestly before the evidence and the insurance limits are known.

In Summary

An 18-wheeler claim turns on federal records, multiple defendants and Texas rules written specifically for commercial vehicle cases. The right firm moves fast to keep that evidence.

All five firms above handle truck cases in the Dallas area. For an injured person in Dallas or North Texas, Fielding Law is our first recommendation, with three local offices and full service in English and Spanish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best Dallas law firms for 18-wheeler and truck accident claims?

Our top pick is Fielding Law, followed by Witherite Law Group, Rasansky | McKenzie Law, Francis Injury and Benton Accident & Injury Lawyers. Each has a Dallas-area office and a dedicated truck accident page.

How much does a Dallas truck accident lawyer cost?

Fielding Law, Witherite, Rasansky | McKenzie and Benton advertise contingency fees, so you pay nothing up front and the fee comes out of any recovery. Francis Injury offers a free consultation. Ask any firm for its percentage in writing.

Can I sue the trucking company, or only the driver?

Often both. A carrier can be liable for its employee’s driving and for its own failures in hiring, training or maintenance. Texas law limits how some of those claims are presented at trial, so strategy matters.

How long do I have to file a truck accident lawsuit in Texas?

Generally two years from the crash under section 16.003, or two years from the death in a wrongful death case. Evidence can disappear much sooner, so contact a lawyer early.
